This one will say, ‘I am the Lord’s; another will call on the name of Jacob, and another will write on his hand, ‘The Lord’s’, and name himself by thename of Israel.” Isaiah 44:5
When we are children of God, we can say, “I am the Lord’s.” WE belong to God. One of the results of the Holy Spirit being poured out upon us, we can boldly say we belong to the God. Having the Spirit in us, is God’s seal upon us.
This “seal” confirms that we are the children of God. Also, we have a place in God’s kingdom. The Holy Spirit also helps us to have confidence i that we have rights and priviledges as God’s children.
Being the children of God is not only for his chosen Children, the Jews. It si also for the Gentiles. Israel is transformed by God’s grace into a new creation. The new way has a threefold purpose.
First, the Holy Spirit is poured out on God’s people. The presence of the Holy Spirit is an expression of God’s intent to use the people as his servants and to equip them for his purpose. The next one is the blessing of God will rest on their offspring. The internal renewal will affect the generations to come. The last one is the new covenant is not only with Israel, but with the Gentiles also.
Do you boldly claim that you are the Lord’s?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you that we can claim that we are yours. Thank you for having the Holy Spirit outpoured upon us.
