I Will Be With You

And the Lord appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; dwell in the land fo which I shall tell you, sojourn in this land, and I will be with you and will bless you, for to you and to your offspring I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham your father.  I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all the lands.  And in your offspring, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.  Genesis 26:2-5

I will be with you.  What a wonderful phrase.  God appeared to Isaac and passed onto him the covenant he made with Abraham.  Isaac had to learn to trust and live by God’s promises.  God wants a personal relationship with us.  Hence, the words, I will be with you.  Isaac had to also accept God’s promises of faith.

Abraham was a model of obedience that proves true faith in God.  God saw this and accepted this.  Abraham made an effort wholeheartedly to live for God.  Isaac had to follow his father’s example of faith and obedience if he wanted God’s promises.  This is true today for us believers.  God is with us!  He keeps his promises and blesses us.  We have to obey and have faith.

Do you obey God’s word?

Do you live by faith in God?

Do you believe God keeps his promises?

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for setting up a covenant with your people.  I pray that we will choose to follow and obey you.  I pray that we will trust and believe in you and your word.  I pray that we will not forget that you are with each of us followers.  I love you and praise your holy name.

In Jesus Name

Amen
