. All relationships start somewhere. We need to follow Jesus’s example of His relationship with God. Jesus started his relationship with God. We need to start our relationship with God. Our relationship with God the Father is the primary relationship in the life of a Jesus follower. When did you realize that you needed a relationship with God the Father?
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:8-10
Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach. Mark 3:13-14
How does knowing that Jesus invites you to follow Him change the way you think about your relationship with Him?
Do you know Jesus in this way? Have you ever made your relationship with Jesus more about doing things for Him rather than being with Him? If we know that our walk with Jesus is to know God and spend time with Him, why is it so hard for us to make daily time with Him? Are there barriers in your schedule that keep you from spending time alone with God? How can you overcome these barriers?

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you that you want a relationship with us. I pray that we will schedule a daily time to meet with you and spend quality time with you. I pray that we will take notice of the barriers that hinder us from spending time with you.
