What are the ways we enable the Spirit to minister encouragement to us?
Read 2 Timothy 2: 1-13
Do not try to do everything by yourself. Don’t take yourself too seriously. God’s plan is not for the pastor to do all the ministry. His plan is for believers to share the work of teaching others. The harvest is outstanding; the laborers are few. Recruit more laborers. Entrust reliable, qualified men and women to teach others. Recruit musicians, deacons, teachers, ushers, greeters, helpers to visit visitors, elders who can help you pray for the sick, helpers to clean and cook. Help the faithful members of your church develop and use the gifts God has given them. By having other help you, the work will not feel too heavy on your shoulders, and the Spirit can bear fruit through the whole body of Christ.
Moses was a tired and grumpy man. He was wearing himself down with all the ministry responsibility. Until his father-in-law, Jethro, came to him with wisdom. Read Exodus 18: 13-24. Why did Jethro counsel Moses to share his responsibilities with others? Moses still had too much work on his shoulders. He was so tired he could hardly walk another step. Once again, he pleaded with God. Read Numbers 11:14-17, 25-29. There is enough of God’s Spirit to equip All believers for ministry. Why does God give spiritual gifts to all believers in the church? The church is the body of believers. We will be blessed by the work we do within the church. Paul shared Timothy, Titus, Trophimus, Demas, Luke, Priscilla, Aquilla, and Apollos. Those who Paul trained taught others.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I pray that we will all be willing to help share the workload within the church.
In Jesus Name
Amen
