The Israelites had a hard time staying faithful to their God. They let false gods into their lives. The consequence at this time was a drought. They were groaning because of the drought. The Israelites are asking questions about the prophets utterance. They remember that it is God alone who gives the rain and fruitful seasons.
They will wait upon the Lord for rain by prayer and supplication, and hope for it. The Israelites will wait on the Lord’s own time to give them rain.
We often go through life and forget that God is God and we begin to rely on other gods when we are not keeping our hope in the one true God. The consequence can either happen individually or as a group.
Where in your life do you need to put your hope in God? Do you need to repent for having other gods in your life? Do you know what other idols you have in your life that takes the place of your hope in God?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Please forgive me of any false idols that I have in my life. I will put my hope in you. I will trust you to take care of my needs. You are my Lord my God. May your will be done.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
