While we are living for God and obeying His word, our integrity and uprightness preserve us. We can trust God while we wait for him. Let’s see what some other versions say.
NIV: May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, Lord is in you.
NLV: May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you.
HCSB: May integrity and what is right, watch over me, for I wait for you.
Which version helps you understand? Different versions can help us understand what the verse is saying. Yesterday we learned what integrity is. If you didn’t read that devotion go ahead and read that one.
Today I would like to look at the word preserve and upright.
Preserve means to maintain (something) in its original or existing state. Uprightness definitions are strictly honorable and honest.
When we are falsely accused by others, yet we know that we live by integrity and uprightness, we can trust that God is in control of our situation. It might not be the way we think, but that is where we trust God and put our hope in him. When are truthful and honest, we have nothing to hide. Living a life of honor and trustworthiness is hard. You often have to be humble with your own faults. Our pride fights us on that. Keep working at it though.
Do you live a life of integrity and uprightness that protects you?
Do you put your hope in God while you are waiting?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your protection. Thank you for giving us guidelines to helps us to put to action or integrity and uprightness. I pray that as we wait on you, we will love you more than our pride and choose to live for you that is pleasing.
In Jesus Name
Amen
