How much of this life that you are living is about you? Your purpose? What about our life’s expectations and how it should turn out or how people should behave reveal otherwise.
Read Matthew 4:8-9. What did Satan show Jesus? What did Satan tell Jesus that he could do for him? What would Jesus have to do to receive it? Satan offered the world to Jesus if he would bow down and worship him. It is said that Satan’s temptation reveals to his heart that what really matters to him is to be worshipped and recognized is far more important than ruling the world. Read 2 Corinthians 11:14-15. In this verse, Satan is described as the “angel of light” – the one who pretends to be from God and deceives those who follow God.
Read Isaiah 14:12-15. What were his intentions? What were his plans? What was his purpose of being? However, what really happened? Satan knows who Jesus is. He has never doubted this, unlike us. He knows who Jesus is. According to these verses, what does Jesus refer to Satan: John 12:31, 14:30, and 16:11.
Take a look at Moses. He had authority and still was giving God the top spot in his life. Read Numbers 12:3. What quality did Moses possess? Humility! Moses was a humble man. How did Moses become so humble and dependent on God? What does humility mean to you? How are you dependent on God?
Read Proverbs 11:2 and 1 Peter 5:5. How do these verses challenge you? How does humility help God bless us?
God saved Moses as a baby. Lived with the very Pharoah that order the firstborn Hebrew sons to death. Moses was educated. Then he messed up. He killed a man. Moses ran away and ended up working for a man named Jethro. Who became His father-in-law. Moses lived as a shepherd. His life had ups and downs, like all of us.
Who are some people in your life that are humble? What do you admire about them?
What would it look like for you to intentionally practice humility in your life? What are the strengths that you should be using for the glory of God? Where do you need to be more authentic about your struggles and God’s grace in your life?
Dear Heavenly Father
Thank you for your love for us. I pray that as we are living out this life here on earth, that we will stay humble. I pray that we will stay focused on you and what your will is.
