Jesus appearing to the disciples and followers must have been important for him to do before he ascended in
to Heaven. First it was the women, then in Mark 16:12-13, he appeared to two disciples, they shared this with the others and yet, they didn’t believe them. In Luke 24:13-32, it goes a little deeper. Here these two men are traveling and talking about the past events that had just happened. They were sad that Jesus was gone (to their knowledge). While they were walking, Jesus interpreted the scripture to these two. In the village, he finally revealed to them who he was. They went and shared this with others. He also appeared to Simon.
How many people does it take for them to believe that these people have seen Jesus? Why is it that we have such a hard time believing the things of Jesus and our Triune God?
One would think that after traveling together for three years, that they would trust and believe what each other are saying. One would think that they would reminisce about what Jesus told them would happen on the third day. Yet, they didn’t believe one another.
Do you believe what other followers say to you today? Do you trust them?
Does our Triune God speak to you? Do you remember what He says to you?
Do you believe what he says to you will be true and fulfilled?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you speaking to us. Thank you for you loving-kindness towards us and your patience. God I pray that we will hear you and remember what you say to us. That we will have enough faith to trust in you and what you say. I pray that we can discern what others say to us and know if it is true.
