When you are seeking God’s will in your life, how do you approach God about it?
Do you ask detailed questions? Do you accept His way of one step at a time?
All God is asking us to do is Follow him one day at a time. God is the only one that knows the way to go to fulfill God’s purpose for your life. Jesus said, “I am the way.”
He didn’t say, “I will show you the way.” He didn’t say, “I will give you a road map.” He didn’t say, “I will tell you which direction to head.” He said, “I am the way.” Jesus knows the way. He is the way. He is the only way.
When you trust Jesus to guide you one step at a time, you will experience a new freedom. When we don’t trust Jesus to guide us, we start to worry and stress about what we should be doing for God.
Abram, later named Abraham, followed God one day at a time. He is a good example of walking in faith and not by sight. Look at the details in the following passage of what God spoke to Abram.
The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people, and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.” “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing, I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse, and all people on earth will be blessed through you.” So Abram left, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy – five years old when he set out from Haran. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there. Genesis 12:1-5
What did God say? How detailed was he? Did Abram know exactly where he was going?
God calls people to follow Him. He will not give detailed instructions. Are you willing to trust God’s will and follow Him one day at a time? Can you agree that God is trustworthy? Can you agree with God that you will follow Him one day at a time? Can you agree with God that you will follow Him even when he doesn’t give you details of what He is asking of you? Will you let Him be your way?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for leading us in your Will. I pray that we will follow you one day at a time. I pray that we will trust you in all things, that we don’t need a road map in our life when we follow you, Lord.
In Jesus Name
Amen
