Jesus Says He Will Die and Rise Again

. Then He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer any things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and at the scribes, be killed, and rise after three days.  He was openly talking about this.  So Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.  Mark 8:31-32

But He strictly warned and instructed them to tell this to no one saying, The Son of Man must suffer many things and  be rejected by the elder’s , chief priests, be killed, and be raised the third day.  Luke 9:21-22

These two verses are similar.  Yet have a few things different.  Let’s focus on the words “son of man”, this  is Jesus’s most common title for himself.  This title goes all the way back to Old Testament Daniel 7:13. This is where the Son of God is a heavenly figure who in the end times has all authority and power.   Son of Man refers to Jesus and the Messiah, the representative man.  The human agent of God who is exonerate by God.

In the passage of Mark, Son of Man is linked closely with Peter’s saying that Jesus is the Christ  and confirms its Messianic significance.

From here on Jesus spoke directly to His disciples about his death and resurrection.  Jesus began to prepare his disciples for what was to come.

He told His disciples not to tell anyone who he was.  This is due to his disciples still needing to learn more.  They needed to learn more about His death and resurrection.  But they truly wouldn’t understand it all till after Jesus death and resurrection.

Do you believe in Jesus?

Do you believe in his death and resurrection?

Do you believe that he is the christ and messiah?

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for your plan of redemption.  I pray that we truly believe in your son and that you sent him to pay the price for our sins.  I pray that is Easter season will mediate on this.

In Jesus Name

Amen
