Know Your God of Your Father

and you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thoughts.  if you seek Him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

King David is talking to his son Solomon.  He is instructing Solomon to know his God and to serve him.  King David is encouraging Solomon to always acknowledge God.  When we acknowledge God and rely on His ways we are depending on God’s leadership and his guidance.  We are serving God’s purpose with a whole heart and a willing mind.  The Lord searches our heart.  He knows every heart.  We can hide nothing from God.  He sees and understands everything in our heart and mind.  God will use other followers/believers to bring out our sins.  King David learned this when Nathan called him out on his sins of adultery and murder (2 Sam. 12).  David, as a father, was telling his son to keep seeking God and be open and honest with him.

Where are you at with acknowledging God?  Are you hiding secret sins?   Are you being devoted to our Lord?

Seek God and he will meet you where you are at! Find hope, mercy, grace, and love in this.  God desires an open and honest relationship.

God,

I thank you for knowing our hearts.  I pray that we will seek you every day.  That we will be devoted to you daily.

Amen
