Laboring In Prayer

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, salutes you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.  Colossians 4:12

Prayer is a strong battle tool against the enemy.  What is amazing about it is all we have to do is prayer.  Pray for ourselves and for others.  Let’s take a look the words laboring. In this verse laboring fervently is wrestling in agony of prayer.  Other translations use struggling.  Struggling in the Greek word is agonizo.  This is where we derive the English word agonize from.  To labor, struggle, or agonize speaks of deep desire and willingness to wrestle and do spiritual battle in prayer.  New Testament believers, who were faithful, were devoted to prayer.  They called on God with expectations for him to meet their needs, to meet their challenges in powerful and miraculous ways.

Today, the needs of family, churches, schools, workplaces, communities, leaders, and the world are no less urgent.  We have to be warriors in spiritual battle praying for all areas of life.  We all must pray with passion and persistence.  Christ power is working powerfully in us when we are wrestling in our prayers.  His purposes are then being realized on behalf of others.  Prayer isn’t just about ourselves, its about others also.  It’s us interceding on behalf of others needs.

How is your prayer life?

Could you use some help in this area of your spiritual walk?

Are your prayers just about you or also others?

Are you laboring in your prayers?

Dear Heavenly Father,

I am so glad that we can come and pray to you.  One would think that it would be easy, but in reality, it can be very hard for a lot of people.  I ask that you help all of us desire to desire to pray to you.  Since things are won on the battlefield because of prayer, I ask that we understand this also.  That we will take the time and pray fervently for ourselves and for others.

In Jesus Name

Amen
