Listen Up!

know this, my beloved brothers:  let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.  James 1:19, 20

One way to show you care for other’s  is to stop and really listen to what they are talking about.  Be slow to speak.  Let the person talking  – speak allow others to also listen to he person talking.  When we interrupt it’s not very caring.  It also causes confusion.

Next time you have a conversation, pay attention to how much talking and listening you are doing with the other person.

As for anger, what is upsetting YOU? Is it the topic? Is it the person? Is it your ego?  We need to make sure our anger is not a selfish anger.  Selfish anger is when you don’t win an argument or no one listens to your ideas.  As hard as that is,  We have to choose not to be offended.

Dear God,

Teach us to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.  Help us to find the source of the anger.

Amen
