Paul states the need for all to continually battle against all that would limit God’s work and purpose in our lives. Sin is always creeping into our lives to take control. Spiritual conflict is against our own selfish and ungodly desires. Our desires of the flesh.
As christians, we have to choose daily, constantly to surrender to God’s nature and character or if we will choose sin. We put to death the deeds of the body through the power of the Holy Spirit to resist and overcome temptation.
We must not only resist temptation and sin but we have to replace our ungodly desires with godly desires, pursuits, and purposes. We must think on things that according to Philippians 4:8 are true, honorable, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy to God.
If we want our sinful desires to die, we must not feed into them. We have to be careful with what we watch, listen to, read, and think about, etc. we must focus on our time, attention, energy, and passions on God and his desires, will, and purpose.
Do you struggle with the battle of your flesh?
Do you feed into you ungodly desires/ sin?
Do you live by Philippians 4:8 as a guide to what you put into your life?
