Lord’s Prayer – Part 2

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, be deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen  Matthew 6: 9-13

Your will be done:

When we say your will be done, we are truly saying that we want God’s purpose, plans, and desires to be done in our life.  We can know His will through His word and through the Holy Spirit leading us.  When we pray to God for His kingdom of God and his righteousness to be active, his will is being done.  We should sincerely desire God’s will to be done.

Daily Bread:

God provides to all our daily needs. Every person needs are different from one another. However, our basics are shelter, food, and clothing. We should be thankful for what God provides to each of us.  We also should not focus on wanting more than we need because that can cause discontentment.

Forgive:

Prayer is a time to go before God and ask for forgiveness for our sins.  When we ask sincerely with the plan to turn away from our sins or old ways, He forgives us.  Since God is so willing to forgive us for our sins, He asks us to forgive those who also do wrong to us.  Sometimes it is so easy to forgive others, other times we have to ask God to help us in this area.

There is so much to the model prayer Jesus gives us.  Come join me tomorrow for part 3.

Do you pray for God’s will?

Do you understand the seriousness of asking for God’s will?

Do you trust God with your everyday needs?

Do you ask for God’s forgiveness daily?

Do you forgive others?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you so much for having Jesus teach us what to say in our prayers to you.  I ask that this model prayer sinks into our hearts that we will understand that when we pray to you what we are really saying and asking.  God, I also ask that you help us to have a willing heart to forgive those who do us wrong.

In Jesus Name

Amen
