Can I be honest here? This verse is somewhat scary! If we don’t love others, we don’t know God. We won’t know who he is because he is love, and we don’t love others. I don’t know about you, but I want to know God. I choose to love others.
Love is a choice and an action. God is the source of our love. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to love. He lives in us. He helps us to be more and more like Christ.
Love is not selfish, or at least God’s love isn’t. This is the love we want to spread around to others.
Loving others is hard. With God’s help, we can love others. 
When you have to choose to love the not-so-loveable, Remember you can through God.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for loving us and showing us what real true love is. Would you mind helping us to love the people around us? Even the ones that are hard for us to love. We want to know you.
