Mary went to Elizabeth. Did she seek a mentor during this time? I think so! The angel told Mary that Elizabeth was also pregnant. When Mary greeted Elizabeth baby John leaped!! Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit right there! Elizabeth knew that Mary was blessed and her baby was the Messiah. The only possible way for this to be possible is that the Holy Spirit told her.
This next part is what has me pondering on!! Elizabeth says, “Why am I favored that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (you know we sure do take a lot of details out! I guess that is why we should always read he book first {insert smiley emoji}.!)
My questions:
1 – Does Elizabeth feel unworthy that Mary the mother of our Savior chose to come see her?
2 – Is she in Awe of being in the very presence of her Lord?
3. What would these two women so far from age, talk about?
Sorry but I don’t have the answers. I have many questions on this and half of them left my brain. Honestly, I do wonder though if she really didn’t feel worthy of being in the very presence of her Lord. I mean don’t we feel that way now. And because of the cross, we can enter into his presence; yet we feel so unworthy. Our triune God is inviting us to come and be in his presence just as we are. We don’t have to be perfect because he will mold us into who he wants us to be. We just have to show up.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you that we can humbly come to you just as we are. That you love us just as we are and you will form us into who you want us to be for you glory. Thank you that you have placed women in the Bible that are good role models for us.
In Jesus name
Amen
