By faith, he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel. Hebrews 11:28
What can we learn from Moses and his faith?
Read Hebrews 11: 23-29. What is so significant about this passage and the verse in Hebrews 11:28?
Read Exodus 12:1-36. How did God schedule the Passover according to verse 2? What were the Israelites to mark on their homes so that death would pass over them?
Now let’s go back to Moses. What terrible thing did Moses do in his past? He murdered an Egyptian, yet he audibly heard the voice of God years later. God unmistakably called Moses. Moses made many mistakes, yet God still used him. What put him in the Hall of Faith?
Reread the passage, but this time put yourself in Moses’ shoes. What would you be feeling? You are insecure, you have a speaking disability, and you know who God is. Your resistance angered God. God is all you need. You faced a powerful Pharoah who is stubborn. You obey God. God has given you instruction to prepare the nation of Israel for the wonder that will result in a mighty deliverance. There is so much more there in the passage, so keep putting yourself into Moses’ shoes. Now reread Hebrews 11:28. What are the many reasons that this requires faith great enough for God to esteem in Hebrews 11? Why did this require so much faith from Moses?
How could death lead to deliverance? How and why would the blood of a lamb protect them? By faith, Moses kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood; Moses believed God, whether He understood God’s plan or not, did what God asked him to do.
Let’s take a look at 1 Corinthians 5:7. What is Christ call Christ? Read Luke 22:7-20. Jesus demonstrated the fulfillment of the Passover through HIs death on the cross. He illustrated the fulfillment at the Last Supper; how did he do that according to these passages?
What do you think or feel about the death of the firstborn in the Passover account? Read Colossians 1:18-20. what kind of firstborn is Christ? Jesus was the firstborn from among the dead, and this is so that in everything, Jesus might have supremacy.
Isn’t God’s s plan amazing? There are so many things that we can learn from Moses and his faith. So many things that we can learn from his story and how it ties to Jesus. God’s plan takes time. Are we willing to have faith and follow God’s ways?
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are so amazing! I pray that we will listen to you and obey you. I pray that we will have faith like the people in the bible did.
In Jesus Name
Amen
