Mysterious Plans

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.  Romans 10:9-10

How do you handle surprises?  Do you like them or hate them?  Personally, I don’t care for them, especially if I know that a surprise is coming.  Birthdays, Christmas, Mother’s day – my husband knows to not let me know or to tell me all.  He hates it, but I am ok with not being surprised.

Read Romans 11:25-32.  Does any of this confuse you?  Does any of it sound mysterious to you?  What did Paul not want the Gentiles to display?  What is the current state of some of the Israelites hearts?  What hope is there for the Israelites in the future?  What can never be withdrawn?  In our disobedience, what opportunity does God us to show to everyone?

We might not understand everything about God and his ways, however, we can trust His character and His promises.  We can still seek and ask God our questions.  God’s character never changes, even when we fail.

What are God’s characteristics?  He is full of grace, mercy, knowledge, wisdom, and riches just to name a few.  His ways are different than ours and that is why we can’t always understand His ways.  We still need to trust and praise Him for who he is and what he does for us.  We might not understand His mind but we can trust His heart.  Everything we have comes from God. Everything exists by His power. Everything is intended for His glory.  Whatever is on our agenda, does it glorify Him?  Everything we say and do should glorify God!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your character.  Thank you for your mercy and grace.  I pray that even though we might not understand everything I pray that we will trust you in all things.  I pray that we will keep seeking you .

In Jesus Name

Amen
