Have you ever done something for someone, yet another got the credit for it?
Has God ever blessed you with a harvest of food, and you never gave him credit for it?
Israel is not giving gratitude where gratitude is due. Year after year, God gives Israel plenty of harvest. Year after year, though, the Israelites offer what God gives them to Baal. A false god that doesn’t even exist. They honor Baal and not God. Israel is to acknowledge in the Feast of Harvest, all the bounty of the land that came from God.
Even when Israel went after other gods, the Lord still provided for her. This showed His great, unselfish love to Israel. Even though Israel took what God provided and prepared it for Baal, He still loved them. This is how the Lord loves us, he lavishing blesses on us even when we are worshipping idols, providing us with blessings we waste on other gods.
In the end, God will punish Israel by blightening the harvest and humiliate her for her unfaithfulness. He will deprive those who turn away from Him until we return back to him.
Let’s not be like Israel and honor false gods or idols. Let’s give God the honor and the gratitude to him that he rightly deserves. He is a God that loves his people lavishly.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for loving us when we don’t deserve your love. Thank you for providing our needs. We have so much to be thankful for because of you and only you. NO one or thing gives us what you provide.
