Obedience Is Costly: Part 2

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more, John 6:6-7

Have you obeyed God and that obedience was costly to those around you?

Let’s take a look at Exodus 5:1-21.  When Moses obeyed God and told Pharaoh to let Israel go, how did it cost the Israelites?  What did it cost them?  When Moses obeyed God, the work load of the children of Israel was increased and the Israelites foremen were beaten.  The Israelites  paid a high cost for Moses to do the will of God.

We have to trust that will care for those around us.  He will communicate with His people.  Christ can be the only head.  The whole body needs to come to Christ for an understanding of God’s will, purpose.  We all need to trust that Christ will communicate with His people.  We cannot deny one another the opportunity to Obey and trust God and join his work.

Being a family in ministry cost those around us.  Even within my own family.  For example, I used to live in a town where my mom resides.  God called us to move on.  During this process we had no idea where we were gonna land.  Thank goodness though, we ended up not moving to far.  One of the questions ask of me was, was I going to be able to move away from my mom.  And How would my mom handle this.  Once again, thank goodness that My mom and I are obedient to God.  We accepted this adjustment.  Was it easy, no it wasn’t.  This transition was/is especially hard for our third son.  For a whole year he was angry at us and God for this adjustment.  We stood our ground with our son and pray to this day that one day he will understand.  Even a close friends of our have had a hard time with us being obedient.  Not that they have asked us to disobey.  They encourage us to obey, but they are grieving the friendship that we had living in the same town.  Our obedience still effected them.

Even though we are a family in ministry, our second oldest son is also going into the ministry.  Soon he will be obeying God and making adjustments that will affect us as a family.  Such as, holidays may not be celebrated because we will both be ministering to the people God has called us too. Quite frankly as a parent this is hard.  However, we have to be obedient to God.  That is where I have to trust God, and know that as we can we will get together as a family here and there.  It’s a sacrifice we both have to accept for the will of God.

Think of missionaries who move far away from loved ones to go to another country.  It costs them and the others around them.  Obedience is costly.  Yet, it is so worth the cost to be obedient to God. We will trust God in our obedience to Him.

Can you relate personally or know of a person or family that have had to pay a high price cost of being obedient to God?

Do you think God will call you to a costly adventure of faith?

Are you willing to be obedient to God to wherever he calls you?

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are simply the most wonderful person in the world.  I thank you that we can trust you in all areas of our lives.  I pray that we will choose to obey you no matter the cost.  I pray the ones around us will also obey and trust in you and be able to release us into obedience to you.  God I pray that you will bless us for choosing obedience to you.

In Jesus Name

 Amen
