“As it is written: “Let him who boasts in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:31
Do you fall in love with Jesus all over again when you see all the good, good things He does?
Read 1 Corinthians 1: 18-31. What insights do you get from this passage? Let’s look at verses 22 and 23 more closely. Paul was not complimenting the greeks on their quest for wisdom. Paul was stating that God wants us to know His Word so we can know the divine author. Verse 23 talks about stumbling blocks. This means trap, any impediment placed in the way and causing one to stumble or fall.
In verse 24, the word called means invited, divinely selected, and appointed. Power means strength, ability, inherent power. Wisdom means broad or full of intelligence, used of the knowledge of very diverse matters. In verse 27, chosen means to pick out, choose. Verse 28, the word base, means ignoble, coward, mean, no family—despised means to make no account.
In verse 29, why does God choose unlikely candidates?
Verse 30, the word righteousness means integrity, virtue, purity of life, correctness in thinking, feeling, and acting. Sanctification means consecration, purification. Redemption means a release effected by the payment of ransom. Write out verse 31.
We need to be careful in our walk with Jesus. Sometimes things like pride can worm themselves into our lives and our ministries. It can be very damaging all around us. God wants us to bear much fruit. He wants us to be infused with prayer and His power. Live your life to please God! Reread this passage and search within yourself of the areas that you need to work on.
Let’s take the time now to go back and think about the fifth section of our life. Were there any pivotal traumas or events in this time frame that occurred? If so, journal them.
As we close the remembering of our past, have you lived long enough and had a relationship long enough to know if you have a Gilgal? A Gilgal has three characterized by we realized that God had rolled away from our reproach, God has proved us victorious in a do-over, God has taken us full circle in a significant way.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your love for each of us. As we reflect, I pray that we will see the gilgals that you have taken us on. I pray that we will be humble and keep following in your ways.
In Jesus Name
Amen
