Passion Week: Devotion – Plot Against Jesus

 Matthew 26:14-16; Mark 14: 10-11; Luke 22:3-6

Then one of the twelve, whose name was Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What will you give me if I deliver hi over to you?” And they paid him thirty pieces of Silver.  And from that moment he sought an opportunity  to betray him.

Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them,  And when they heard it, they were glad and promised to give him money.  And he sought an opportunity  to betray him.

The Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of twelve.  He went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers how he might betray him to them.  And they were glad, and agreed to give him money.  So he consented and sought an opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of a crowd.

In Psalm 41:9 – Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, had lifted his heeled against me.  Judas was that close friend that betrayed Jesus.  Even though they didn’t know which friend would betray him, it was foretold that a friend would betray Jesus.  This was a promise fulfilled in the New Testament.

John 13:18 says,  ” I am not speaking of all of you; I know whom I have chosen.  But the Scriptures will be fulfilled, He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me. ”  This is another scripture showing that the Old Testament prophecy has been fulfilled.

In John 6:64, ” But there are some of you who not believe.” (For Jesus knew for the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him).

Jesus knows all.  He is God.  He knew Judas’s heart.  He knew the pull Judas has towards the wrong behaviors and what he would do.  Jesus knew Judas was drifting from his faith.

Jesus knows all of us.  He knows truly where our devotion to him is.  Even if others see us as devote followers, out Triune God knows exactly where we stand on following Him.  Our Triune God knows if we are all words and no action to our faith.  He knows if we are being hypocrites or a false teacher.  He KNOWs!!!!

We have to be aware of where are at with God.  We have to discern and know God’s word, to know the motives of our heart towards God.  Judas had changed.  He had hardened his heart towards God.  He wasn’t faithful or devoted to Jesus.

Search your heart!

Are you truly devoted to God?

Is there anything in your life that you need to rid of in your life?

Are you speaking God’s truth?

Are you being hypocritical?

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are so amazing!  Thank you.  As we enter into this time of the passion week, I pray that we will desire to know you more, to life for you wholeheartedly.

In Jesus Name

Amen
