Mark 11:27-13:37;
Luke 20:1- 21:36 Part Two
Yesterday We focused on the Parable of the Two Sons and the Parable of the Tenants. Today let’s focus on more of what Jesus taught. Did you get a chance to read the passages above? I was lucky just to get the first two read. However, let’s try to get through some more lesson’s Jesus taught!!
The Parable fo the Wedding Feast:
In this passage, Jesus is teaching that many people will seem to accept Christ’s invitation. They claim to be members of God’s family. However, they will not be wearing the wedding garments. These wedding garments represents a condition of spiritual readiness. They don’t have true devotion of following Christ. As for the man not wearing wedding garments is referring to all of us to search our own lives to make sure we are prepared and ready to serve God and be with him forever. We have to remember that Jesus came for spiritual saving not political. In this teaching, Jesus is also talking about how many are called but few are chosen. Christ is calling many to his family but only a few will accept Him.
Paying Taxes to Caesar:
During these times of teaching, the Pharisees and Herodians were plotting to trap Jesus in his teachings. However, Jesus saw through their wickedness and knew how to respond to them. The wicked people marveled at how Jesus responded.
Sadducees Ask about the Resurrection:
Here the Sadducees are trying to discredit Jesus. He spoke boldly and told them that they know neither the scriptures or the power of God. He set them straight about what will be in heaven after we die. When we are in heaven, it won’t be like it is here on earth, but we will be in a deeper spiritual relationship.
What things did you learn from these parables?
Can you relate them to your own life?
Where are you at spiritually? Dig deep? Jesus is worth us digging deep and being honest with ourselves.
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we read these passages, please guide us to understand. God this week we start our passion week of Jesus. I pray that we will mediate on all the events that lead up to Jesus on the cross, and grow to understand our triune God’s love for us.
In Jesus Name
Amen
