Mark 11:27-13:37;
Luke 20:1- 21:36 Part 3:
The Great Commission:
This here is a mighty, mighty lesson. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your soul. God has to be our full focus. He must have all of our love. Then we are to love all people. The mean, the wicked, the people who hurt you, Love all people. When we love God completely and love others unselfishly, then all of our attitudes and actions will be aligned with God’s commands, and instructions of His Word.
Seven Woes to the Scribes and Pharisees:
Jesus is calling the people who are putting on an act of following God, hypocrites. In this chapter, Jesus makes his strongest accusations against the ones that acted as if they were devoted to God. However, they renounced everything Jesus was saying and doing.
Jesus’ attitude is not tolerant, permissive, or accommodating to someone who is worried about offending others. He is more concerned about faithfulness to God the Father. Jesus was true to His mission. Jesus has great love for scripture. He was also concerned about the harm that was happening to the people by the leaders that was distorting it. Jesus also describes these people as ones who seek to be popular, honor, titles, and keep others from the truth of Gods Word. the Bible teaches about being aware of false religious leaders. Lastly, for those in the church, who acted under the pretense of love, tolerance, and unity, refuse to recognize and speak out against this false behavior.
Jesus spoke some hard truths about the leaders in his day. Can you see some comparisons of today?
Do you love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul? Do you love all people?
Are you following false teachers? Are you being tolerant of things that are sinful?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for speaking truth and being truth to us. God I pray that we will love you with all my mind, heart, and soul. Help us to love others through you. I pray that we will speak to truth to all people. To live honestly after you.
In Jesus Name
Amen
