Have you ever been in a situation where you were having a casual conversation and it turned into a heated argument?
Did you ever have someone with the group bring calmness “peace” to the group? This type of person is a peacemaker. Jesus brought peace with him when he came to the world. He gave us peace with God and with others through God. Jesus will bring ultimate peace when He comes back again. Jesus is our ultimate peacemaker.
Jesus doesn’t’ just give peace. He is peace. His blood is what reconciled us to God, therefore we have peace with God. He was willing to be crucified so we could be reunited with God and have peace. Peace in the biblical context is it covers wholeness, physical well – being, prosperity, security, good relations, and integrity.
Being a peacemaker is not being a doormat or steering away from conflict. A peacemaker is someone who is actively seeking to reconcile people to God and to one another. They show grace and look for the goodness in people. They bring calmness, love, mercy, wisdom, and patience. They mediate disputes and improve understanding, and seek reconciliation. They bring unity. Sound like Jesus!
Jesus removed the barriers of hostility and hatred. He created a way for people to come together, restoring peace to a hostile and damaged relationship and to the world. He brought peace to our own lives.
Are you a peacemaker in your world?
How can you bring peace within your world?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending your peace. I am so grateful that Jesus is our ultimate peacemaker. I pray that we will be peacemakers within our world. Please show and guide us on how to be peacemakers.
In Jesus Name
Amen
