Purity Of The Bride

“See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are.  For this reason, the world doesn’t know us, because it did not know him.  Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we shall be.  WE know that, when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is.  And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”  1 John 3:1-3

Weddings!!  Aren’t they just exciting?  I love weddings.  I had mine planned since I was little, like 5 years old.  I loved watching anything that had weddings.  One could say, or at least my family, that I am a wedding critique. No, I don’t reveal this to others.  OH, the splendor of a wedding.

Christ is worthy for us to come before Him clothed in splendor and majesty of holiness and purity.  How do we prepare and continue to prepare ourselves for the bridegroom’s return?  What do we do in cooperation with Him?  What is the one thing the Church is to do to respond to all Christ has done?  Let’s read Ephesians 5:24,  “Now as the church submits to Christ, so wives are to submit to their husbands in everything.”  We, the Church, must be submissive to Him continually.  As Jesus is the head of the Church.  We are to have a pure focus on Him, a set direction.  This means that in all areas of our life, we are to follow Him, adjust to Him, adapt to Him,  line up with Him.  Just this morning, I was pondering on the thought of, “What if God called me to a mission far from home?  What would happen if my mom died? Would I be able to come back home for that time being?  Then I thought of the verse, or passage, let the dead bury their own.  My mom would totally understand my being about my Father’s business.  And that is where I left that thought.  We need to be daily about the Father’s business and making that a priority in our life above all else.

Let continue on to 2 Corinthians 11:2-3.  What do we discover in this passage?  What was Paul’s main concern?   He didn’t want them to commit spiritual adultery of following false teachers and false teaching.  What truths do you find in 1 John 3:1-3?  What does this passage tell us about what we are to do while we await the return of the Lord? In what areas of your life do you need to make some or a lot of adjustments as you prepare for the return of Christ?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your word.  Thank you for showing us how to prepare for Jesus’s return.  I pray that we will not take this lightly, but take it seriously of submitting to you as we prepare for your return.

In Jesus Name

Amen
