Rejoice In God

More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Romans 5:11

Our last spiritual blessing from this passage is reconciled to God.  Paul has stated that rejoice in tribulations and in hope of the glory of God.  In this verse, he adds that we rejoice in God himself; in his existence, his attributes, his justice, his holiness, his mercy, his truth, and on his love.  Christians rejoice in who God is and glorifies God is the administrator of the universe.

One evidence that we are reconciled to God is that we rejoice in him as he is.  We find pleasure in the contemplation of his perfections as revealed in the scriptures.

As through our Lord, we meditate on the Lord Jesus Christ, who reveals the true character of God.

Barnes note of the Bible states this, ”  As it is now used by us, it commonly means the ransom, or the sacrifice by means of which reconciliation is effected between God and man. But in this place it has a different sense. It means the reconciliation itself between God and man; not the means by which reconciliation is effected. It denotes not that. we have received a ransom, or an offering by which reconciliation might be effected; but that in fact we have become reconciled through him.”

Do you rejoice in who God is?

Are you reconciled with God?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this glorious day!  Thank you for who you are.  We get to rejoice in you.

In Jesus Name

Amen
