Though the fig tree should not blossom nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fruit and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God my salvation. God, the Lord, Is my strength; he makes my feet like the deers; he makes me tread on my high places. Habbakkuk 3:17-19
I will rejoice in the Lord! Habakkuk did not serve God because of what God could give him. He personally served God because he personally knew who God is. The sovereign Lord of the Universe. Sovereign is God’s power, control, and authority to do what He desires. This is why the Lord is worthy of our praises and honor.
Even with God’s judgment on Judah, the experience of suffering and loss, Habbakkuk rejoiced in the Lord. He continued to believe in God to be his savior and His unfailing source fo strength. Habbakkuk knew without a doubt that a portion of God’s faithful people would survive the Chaldean invasion. He believed that those who were faithful in God would be victorious. Their faith would move mountains.
We need to trust and believe that God is our savior. With that in mind, He will not harm us, abandon us, or leave us. We need to trust He is in control and has a purpose for our suffering.
When suffering, going through trials or hardships do you still believe in the Sovereign God?
Do you still rejoice in God?
Do you still believe God to be your savior?
Do you trust him?
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you with a humble heart that wants to seek you daily. God, I pray for each of your followers that when we are suffering we will continue to keep our eyes on you. You are our Sovereign God. We praise you and rejoice in you.
In Jesus Name
Amen
