Resurrection Sunday: Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene and The Other Women

Mark 16: 9-11; John 20:11-18; Matthew 28:9-10

Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared to the first Mary Magdalene from when he had cast out 7 demons.   She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourn and wept. But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her,  they would not believe it.

Mary Magdalene was a woman who had seven demons and Jesus heal her of this.  Joanna and Susanna and many others of these women faithfully contributed  to his ministry.  Their support likely came from finances and meeting their practical needs. This is how we should also be as followers.  Jesus appeared to her and told her what he needed her to do.

God loves men and women.  When you read the Gospels (all of them),  this event will make sense put into context together.   The women saw the empty first, then told the disciples.  They went and checked it out,  then they all left the tomb,  but Mary Magdalene stayed behind and wept.  This is where Jesus,  yet again met her.  Jesus shows us his presence and love to those who are often overlooked and less important by the world standards.  God sees you.   Women played in important role in Jesus’s ministry.  Jesus doesn’t play the favorite game.  He loves all and wants all to help with his ministry.  Jesus also appeared to the group of women that left the tomb,  to tell the others.

When he created them they took a hold of his feet and worshipped him.   Our triune God loves all.  He meets the lowly and unnoticed.  He never intended for the culture,  that men are better than women or higher than women.   Men and women are both made in his image.  We are to work in  unity for God‘s purpose and plan.  When we are following Christ,  we are showing others who God is, therefore, we need to love others Christ Followers.  We need to rejoice in God‘s plan,  as he has a plan for  and for you.  They are apart of God’s family.

Are you being unified with all followers?

Do you feel unimportant or unnoticed?

Remember,  God sees you.   He knows You!  You are important and God has a plan and a purpose for you with him.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for this beautiful day.  I think you that we get to celebrate your great plan.   I pray that we will be unified in your family and that we will do what we have to do to make your plan work.  I pray that  we would co-operate with each other for your glory.  I pray that we will be unified in you,  but also with other followers.  I pray that we will love others like you love.

In Jesus name

Amen
