In Noah’s days, everyone lived wicked lives. Noah, though, still worshipped God. He obeyed and depended on God. Noah was blameless in his generation means that he did not follow the crowd and their wicked ways. Since Noah was righteous, with a deep and holy respect for God, God found favor with Noah.
Noah’s obedience to God was the result of God’s grace – his undeserved favor – and Noah’s faith in God. Today, Salvation is the result of God’s mercy and undeserved favor. We are given it only by faith, and the effort of following God daily and rejecting or avoiding sin.
The new testament states that in Hebrew 11:7, Noah was an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. The new testament also states that Noah was a herald of righteousness. His life was a constant testimony for God. When he was mocked, he kept going.
Where are you being a righteous, blameless person? Are you living a life that is pleasing to God? Are you allowing the Holy Spirit to speak truth into your life? Are you choosing to walk with God? Are you honoring God? Are you understanding how to live a life pleasing and honoring to God? Is your way of living life an example or testimony to others about God’s love? Are you stuck on how to live a righteous, blameless life?
I think of how I walk with my husband. We walk side by side each other. I listen to him. I respond to him. We know each other and serve each other. We love each other deeply. This is all because we walk together. When you walk with God, you are praying to him, which really is just having a conversation with him like you do another human. You stop and take the time to really listen to what He is saying to you. Spend time in the Word of God. Using the spiritual gifts that the Holy Spirit gives us. We have to be obedient to God and His Word. It is saying not to sin and that temptation and standing our ground to stay righteous.
Dear Heavenly Father
Thank you for your great love for us. I pray that we will be a people of righteousness and blamelessness in our generation. I pray that we will turn away from sin and have no part of it. Give us boldness to speak and act in the truth of your Word and ways.
In Jesus Name
Amen
