Today lets’ take some time to read more scripture and seek God. Pray and ask God to speak to you on what he would like to show you about where your heart is. I am going to list some things about proud people and humble people. When you feel God tugging at your heart strings stop and focus on this area of your life. Let’s get closer and deeper with God.
Proud People:
Do you focus on the failures of others?
Do you have a critical, fault – finding spirit ( do you look at eveyones faults with a microscope but only look at yours with a telescope)?
Are you self righteous; looking down on others?
Do you have a independent, self sufficient spirit?
Do you have to prove you are right?
Do you have a demanding spirit?
Are you self protective of your time, your rights, your reputation?
Do you have a desire to serve?
Do you desire to make a name for yourself?
Do you have a desire for self advancement?
Do you have a desire to be recognized and apreciated?
Are you wounded when others are promoted and you are overlooked?
Now let’s look at humble people:
Are you overwhelmed with a sense of your own spiritual need?
Are you compassionate? Can you forgive much since you know how much you have been forgiven?
Does your give others esteem more then yourself?
Do you have a dependent heart on God? Do you recongize that you need others?
You are not arguementive?
Do you yield your rights, or have a meek spirit?
Are you self – denying?
Are you motivated to serve others?
Are you motivated to be faithful adn to make others successful?
Do you desire to promote others?
Do you have a sense of your own unworthiness, or are you thrilled that God would use you at all?
Are you eager for otheres to get the credit and rejoice when other are lifted up?
We need to be aware of how arrogrant we are in order to step towards being humble! Do we need to wait for God to make us humble or do we need to humble ourselves? God says that we need to humble ourselves and when we do this He is always there with open arms of grace and love. How great is our God. Take some time and pray over these questions and repent to God over any pride in your life.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your unending grace and love! I pray that as we go through each of these questions that Holy Spirit will speak to us and show us where we need to repent. I pray that we will be honest with ourselves.
In Jesus Name
Amen
