Seeking Him

. Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,  And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. Psalm 51:6

The enemy, Satan, is wanting us to have the struggle of being honest with God and ourselves.  He wants to deceive us and for us to live in that deception.  Jesus explains well who satan is.   ” You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”  John 8:44.  Satan is lying about lying.  Nothing good comes from us lying.  Satan may be powerful, however Our Savior’s power is stronger then Satan’s.

Let’s take some time today and look to the Bible and what it has to say about honesty with God, ourselves, and others.

Honesty with God:

Psalm 51:6:  Do you participate in corporate praise and prayer with a heart that is cold, indifferent, or resistent to God?

Are your prayers honest? Does your prayers come from the heart of honesty or from a heart to impress God? Do you communicate honestly  about what you really think and feel?

Do you honor God with your heart and mind from afar? When praying in public are you focused on God and his presence or are you focused on the others around you?

Do you serve God with a heart of genuine love and devotion or do you have the desire to be notice and applauded?

Honesty with ourselves:

Read James 1:22.  Is there any truths from God’s word that you know and tell others, but yet you don’t apply to your own life?

1 John 1:8.  Do you ignore, resist, or deny the conviction of the Holy Spirit or His word in relation to your sin?

Honesty with others:

Read Ephesians 4:25.  Do you seek to create a better impression of yourself than what is honestly true?

Do you leave the impression that you are more spiritual than what you are?

Are you covering up your sin of your past rather than dealing with them biblically?

We may think being honest is hard.  Yes, to a point it is.  When we are being honest, we are also being humble of where our spiritual life is at.  When we are being honest, we will have the peace of God with us.  We will be more free to be who God intends for us to be.  When we are hiding our sin, We are not allowing God to make the changes in our lives.

Are you ready for make changes in your life?  Are you ready to be real and honest with God, yourself, and others?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for teaching us the positiveness in being honest.  I pray that we will seek you and listen to what you what to say to us and what you want to reveal in our hearts.  I pray that we will be bold, courageous, and obedient in being honest with you and ourselves and others.

In Jesus Name

Amen
