Find a time today, with no interruptions, and sit at the feet of Jesus. Find what works for you and God to build your relationship with each other. Everyone’s way is different. However, the first thing is first – prepare your heart. Psalm 100:4 says, to enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! God is worthy of our worship. Praise Him for who he is, give Him thanks. Ask God to show you what is hindering you in your fellowship with Him. Confess any sin that he brings to you. Ask God to quiet your heart, open your ears, and speak to you through His word. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and to be your teacher, counselor, etc. Commit yourself to obey God in everything He shows you. Read Psalm 25:4-5 and Job 34:32
Listen to God. As you are praying, listen for his voice, he will speak to us, we just have to be patient. Read His word thoughtfully and prayerfully. Write down words, phrases, verses that pop out at you. Meditate on these. Research the many ways to study God’s word, find a way that works for you.
Respond to God. When we spend time with God, remember that it is a dialogue. You speak to Him and He speaks to you. Prayer is a wonderful thing. We can praise Him, thank Him, confess to him, a petition to HIm, and intercession for others. He will give us the tools we need to follow him and to shine his light to others.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this time with you. I pray that our time together will grow more each day. I pray that as our relationship grows that it won’t become stagnant. But that every day we seek you and you reveal what needs to be revealed to each of us.
In Jesus Name
Amen
