I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust. This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men. Acts 24:16
Today we are going to read Romans 2:12-16, Hebrews 9:11-14, 1 Peter 3:13-17, and 1 John 3:19-24.
For as many, as have sinned without law will also perish without the law, and as many, as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves, their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel. Romans 2:12-16
But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 9:11-14
Did you make your list yesterday? If you did great if you didn’t do it right now. Making the list doesn’t clear your conscience, it is only a map to where to start. Clearing your conscience is an action. You will need to go, pray to God for forgiveness, and then go to the person as the Holy Spirit prompts you to. When you go to the person to ask for forgiveness you will need to choose your words carefully and wisely. Start by being humble. Do not offer excuses or make accusations, even if the other person was in the wrong. Be specific on how you sinned. Then ask for forgiveness.
Depending on what the situation is you might have to make restitution. Also depending on the situation do whatever you can to restore the relationship. In some situations, like abuse or illegal activities may not be possible to restore the relationship. Please take caution to this. Then after you have sought forgiveness, you can begin to rebuild your relationship. If the other person was at fault in the situation, leave that for the Holy Spirit to convict them. At this point only do what God is asking you to do. Next, face the hardest situation first. Don’t stop until you have finished this process. Then maintain a clear conscience.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being a loving, patient father to us. I pray that we will be obedient to you and work on having a clear conscience between you and us and us and man. Show us your ways oh Lord. Give us the courage, boldness, and grace to step up and do what is right before you.
In Jesus Name
Amen
