Serving With Joy

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond servant, and coming in the likeness of men.  He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  Philippians 2:5-11

Do you have the mindset like Jesus?

Are you striving to have the mindset of Jesus?

As we become more Christlike, we will experience joy.

How do we adopt this attitude of Christ?

When Jesus came to earth, he emptied himself by being a servant. He took on humanity.  He was fully God and fully man.  Through His incarnation, Jesus willingly and Joyfully set aside his rights as the divine. He took on some limitations of being human and had no sin.
His choice to come to earth as a baby, emptying himself reveals his selfless love for for us.  Jesus came to earth to serve, not to be served.  He did not have the attitude of earthly Kings.
Do you have any area in your life that you need to empty, in order to serve others joyfully and humbly?

Jesus was a humble servant.  He washed his disciples feet the night before he died on the cross.  He even washed the feet of the one who would betray him.  How about how at one time we were Jesus’ enemy!  Yet he cleansed is of our sins.

So how do we get joy from being a servant?  Well, we reverse our roles like Jesus did.  Our nature is not to serve. It’s not fulfilling. However, when we take on the attitude like Jesus or the mindset like Jesus, and empty ourselves of our rights; we will have the joy Jesus promises.  We as followers of Christ need to disrobe our self centered rights and cloth ourselves with humility.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your joy.  I pray that we will have the mindset like Jesus.  God, help us to empty ourselves and to have humility to serve others.
In Jesus Name

Amen
