Singing Your Thanksgiving

Then on that day David first appointed that Thanksgiving be sung to the Lord by Asaph and his brothers.  “Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon His name; make known his deeds among the people.  Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wonderous works.  1 Chronicles.  16: 7-9

This song of thanksgiving and praise show what to thank God for.  David wrote this to praise and give thanks to God.  He wanted to celebrate Gdo’s mercy and wonderful acts for Israel.  This is a beautiful song that can help us to remember God and what he has done.

In Peter 2:5 it says, “you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  Since we are considered priest, we are authorized and responsible to offer the spiritual ministry of praise and thanksgiving to God.  Hebrews 13:15 says, “Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.”  We, Christians, must praise, give thanks, and worship God in both words and actions.

In 1 Chronicles 16:10, it talks about our hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.  Our joy, security, and freedom from anxiety depends on our trust and gratitude to God.  Those of us who pray constantly with an attitude of thanksgiving can have confidence that God is always with us and will help us!

How do you sing thanks to God?

Did these verses give you more ideas of  what and how to thank God?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for all you do for your people.  Thank you for your provisions in our lives.  I pray that we will be praising and thanking you more from this day on, then from the past.  I pray that we will have a heart of gratitude towards you in our circumstances, then not.  I pray that our words and actions have a gratitude action.

In Jesus Name

Amen
