Solomon’s Prayer For Forgiveness

“… whatever prayer, whatever plea is made by any man or by all your people Israel, each knowing the affliction of his own heart and stretching out his hands towards this house, then hear in heaven  your dwelling place and forgive and act and render each whose heart you know,  according to all his ways (for you, you only, know the hearts of all the children of mankind),  that they may fear you all the days that they live in the land that you gave to our fathers.  1 Kings 8:38-40

God will forgive His people if they sincerely repent.  By this, I mean that they admit their sin and are determined to make a complete change, to turn away from sin and follow God.

In all my years of building my relationship with God, he has dealt with me in a gentle, loving way.  What I mean by this is instead of expectation of me being perfect all at once, God slowly works out my affliction, my sin one or a few at a time.. He never deals with it all at once.  I believe that if I had to deal with all my sin and imperfection, I would be in a deep depression and wonder why God would Love me so.  I say this all because when he is working on me with one little or big area in my life, this is what I think with just this little amount.  I know myself well enough to know that as long as I am on this earth, I will still have afflictions, sin, imperfection to work on.

If we are honest with ourselves, we know for the most part why we need to  get rid of in our lives.  If we want God’s forgiveness, we have to repent, turn away from what God is wanting to change in our lives.  As for the sins we don’t realize, thank goodness for God’s grace and mercy.  In His good timing, He will bring that forth for Him and I to deal with it together.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for your all knowing ways.  I ask that as we walk in your ways, that we yield to you nudging on our hearts of what you want to work on in our lives.  I pray that we will be obedient in this area of our lives.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
