Still I Will Have Hope In God

Though he slays me, I will hope in him; yet I will argue my ways to his face.  Job 13:15

Job! Poor, pathetic Job.   A man who lost everything in his life.  Yet he kept his faith.  Job knew God’s goodness.  Whatever God allowed to happen to Job, whatever suffering he endured, even if God slew him (end his life), Job believed that God wouldn’t fail him.

Now that is faith.  It might not look like faith to us.  Job had so many things taken from him.  His livestock, his children, sickness.  He went through a lot of affliction.  His own wife told him to end his life.  How many of us go through difficulties and get angry at God, blame God, hate God, or turn away from God?  But not Job.  He stayed faithful to God through it all.  We, his faithful people, can have confidence in the same love from God.

God may take our comforts away, allow us to be sick, take our loved ones, take us through some troubled times, however, he will never abandon us.  His power, strength, and love will get us through.  All we have to do is trust and depend on him.  Be convinced that he is right.  We need to believe he has our best interest in mind.

Have you ever gone through an affliction and kept the faith?

Did you trust God through it?

Or did you get resentful towards God?

How did you work through that or have you?

Take time to deal with these emotions.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for never abandoning us.  I pray that as we go through afflictions that we will have faith like Job.  I pray that we will depend on you through all things.

In Jesus Name

Amen
