He fills my life with good things. Psalm 103: 5
The surrendered life. A life devoted to God and His ways. It sounds so easy and simple. However, is it? I think surrendering everything to God is hard. Does it need to happen? Yes! However, it is still hard to go through if we are honest with ourselves, God, and others. Of course, there are awesome benefits and blessings from God when we surrender and trust him with our lives. I don’t think we can sit here and talk about the Israelites and how they couldn’t get their act together in this area. I mean, we have studied and evaluated our own life. I really believe that if we are honest, we will see that we have done the same thing they have done to some degree.
The bottom line is this, though. We are on a journey with God. We are building a relationship with Him. It does require that we surrender to God and His ways. Thank goodness, God is a patient God. He walks along with us, helping us to learn more about him and how he wants us to trust, obey, and surrender to him. He is a gracious God. I don’t know about you, but I have learned a lot about who he is in all of my trials and testings.
Read Philippians 1:6. How long will God keep working on us? God will never give up on us. He wants us to have freedom in Him. We have freedom by surrendering to Him and let go of our control.
Let’s look back at Deuteronomy and see how Jesus faced temptation. Read Deuteronomy 8:3; 6:16; and 6:13. These might be verses that need to be posted around our homes!
Now let’s go back and read again Deuteronomy 8:3-11. In some way, I want you to mark the phrases that remind you of Jesus’ responses to satan in the wilderness. Circle the phrase ” He humbled you”. When and how did God humble you? In times of trials and hardships, how did God provide for you? What are some teaching times in your wilderness time? How is your obedience to God? Who do you choose to follow in these times? When lIfe is going well, do we need a reminder to remember God during this season?
Read Matthew 22:37. When we surrender as this verse says, we will remember to lean on and trust God. We will go through the life-transformational and life-giving moments with God. We will learn that God is good, faithful, protective, and full of love for us.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all that you do for us. You are a good, good father. So worthy of our praise. I pray that we will surrender daily to you. I pray that we will trust you in every area of our lives.
In Jesus Name
Amen
