    Grace Teaches To Say No

For the Grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions. Titus 2:11-12 What does Grace teach those who pass its classes?  Does Professor Grace teach that believers remain slaves of sin? How is Grace viewed or looked at as? Read Titus 2 Some view Grace as weak, feeble, fragile, and fearful.  Others view Grace as a teacher without a backbone, undisciplined, and without a firm will.  In contrast to these views, Grace is bold and powerful. Grace is kind, but it doesn’t tolerate evil.  Grace is merciful, but…

God’s Grace Offers Salvation: Part 2

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  Titus 2:11 Read Titus 2: 11-14 Grace is the free, kind, and generous way God relates to people.  Paul speaks of grace as if it was a human – a teacher from God.  The foundation of Titus 2 is found in verses 11-14.  The behavior Paul encourages the five groups is to respond to the grace of God that has appeared and taught us. What were we like when grace found us?  Grace alone brings God’s offer of salvation to all.  God’s grace is for all people.  The powerful grace that took…

Grace Brings God’s Offer Of Salvation: Part 1

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  Titus 2:11 Read Titus 2: 1-10 What is the main ministry of a pastor? Pastors main are about relating to people and groups of people.  There are five groups of people that ministers have to connect with to have Godly behavior.   The first one is older men, older women, and younger women so that no one will malign the word of God (Titus 2:1-5).  The next group is younger men so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing wrong to say about us (Titus 2:6-8).  The third group is slaves so that…

    Solutions to False Teachers

Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless – not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.  Titus 1:7 Read Titus 1: 5-16 There are two solutions to overcome false teachings.  First, you appoint godly elders to lead the house churches.  Titus’ main task was to appoint godly elders (pastors) to the churches.  These leaders needed to be people that know God.  Their lives show it.  Putting godly leaders in churches still needs to be applied to today’s churches.  How does Titus recognize a godly leader? Paul reveals three keys to recognizing those who can help lead the church.  First, godly leaders…

    Charge To Elders

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ for the faith of God’s elect and the knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness – faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, and at his appointed season he brought his word to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior, To Titus, my true son in our common faith.  Titus 1:1-4               Read the Book of Titus. In verse 4, Paul called Titus “my true son in our common faith.”…

    Reflection Day

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 Today is Reflection Day!  I love reflection day.  It’s a time for me to go back and reflect on what God has spoken to me.  It gives me time to pray and seek God about what he wants to change in my life.  It gives me time to make a game plan of putting action to what God is telling me and asking of me.  Reflection Day gives me a slower pace to grasp what God is telling me.  It gives…

    Abram Believed God

And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.” And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir.”  And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you can number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness. Genesis 15: 3-6 God made a promise to Abram.  A commitment that to man seemed impossible.  However, Abram believed the Lord.  What comes to mind when…

    Finishing The Race: Part 3

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.  Instead, to suit their desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.               Preach the Word with endurance – to the end of the race. Preach the Word, even when it is unpopular.  We need to tell people the truth, even when they don’t like it.  We need to be like Jeremiah, who prophesied that the Babylonians were coming to conquer Judah.  The Jews called him a liar and threw him in the dungeon.  He stood firm for the…

    Finishing The Race: Part 2

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage- with great patience and careful instruction.  2 Timothy 4: 1-2             Are you willing to finish the race well?  Finishing the race well, We, as God’s servants, must emphasize the Word.  Paul commands Timothy to Preach the Word.  This powerful statement has echoed through the centuries and is one that should not be taken lightly. Preach the Word, no…

    Finishing The Race: Part 1

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of because you know those from whom you learned it”  2 Timothy 3:14               In Paul’s day, people like to watch athletes run races.  Athletes would train for nine months.  Thousands of people would watch the runners.  Paul compares our life o earth to a race.  The prize at the end of the long race is the race.  We don’t have to be the fastest, the quickest, or the first to complete the race.  We must please God and remain faithful to the end of the race.  If we finish…
