But he considered these things, behold, an angel of the lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord as spoken by the prophet: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the…

Old Testament Prophesy – Part 2
The scepter shall not depart from Judah, not the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until tribute come to him; and to him shall be the obedience of the people. Judah’s descendent would hold a position of generational authority over the other tribes of Israel. This part of the promise was fulfilled when Israel’s royal link came through King David, a descendant of Judah. “Until tribute comes to him,” is reference to the Messiah, the one to be the last fulfillment of the promise. Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the last fulfillment of the promise of our Messiah. Help us to serve and to obey your word. In Jesus…

David Is Called
In Then Jesse told his son Abinadab to step forward and walk in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “This is not the one the Lord has chosen.” Next Jesse summoned Shaman, but Samuel said, “Neither is this the one the Lord has chosen.” In the same way all seven of Jesse’s sons were presented to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen any of these.” Then Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” ” There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. ‘But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep.” “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to…

You Are My Friends
“You are my friends if you do what I command.” John 15:13-15 Let look at the word “friend”. In verse John 15:13, a friend in Greek is a philon. It refers to associates for whom there are affection and personal regard . . . and conveys a greater sense of intimacy than does our modern use of friend. Obedience to Jesus doesn’t allow us to be His servants or disciples. Obedience also opens the door to a true friendship with Jesus, His highly regarded associates, The recipients of His affection. We will read the following verses about some friendships in the Old Testament that had…

Advent: Day Sixteen
And shepherds were living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:8-11 The angel brought the shepherds good news. The angel proclaimed to them that the Messiah had been born. This was a joyful night. What exactly is this great…

A Look At Shepherds: Part 2
. I am the Good Shepherd. John 10:11 Read Ezekiel 34:1-23. The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy, and say to them, even to the shepherds, Thus says the Lord God: Ah, shepherds of Israel who have been feeding yourselves! Should not shepherds feed the sheep? 3 You eat the fat, you clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the fat ones, but you do not feed the sheep. 4 The weak you have not strengthened, the sick you have not healed, the injured you have not bound up, the strayed you have not brought back, the lost you have not…

Hope In A Family
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 Did you ever learn the children’s song, Father Abraham? Or do you know this song? It was one of my favorites songs to sing in the children’s churches. In fact, it is still one of my favorites. I teach it to all the kids in my children’s church when given the opportunity. It goes like this: Father Abraham had many sons, many sons had Father Abraham. I am one of them, and so are you So let’s all praise the Lord. The actions to this song were in verse…

Hebrews 4:16 So far how have you dealt with what God has been asking you to change? Are you struggling with any of these changes? Here are a few questions to help! I really want to obey God, but it’s to hard! I’m afraid to do what I know I need to do! I know what God wants me to do, I don’t have the desire to do it! I will never measure up to what I should be! Repenting To God
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 What images, feelings, or reactions do you get when you hear the word repentance? Why do we blame our circumstances or other people for our actions or our spiritual condition? Let’s take a look at David. Let’s read Psalm 51:1-6. Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned,…

Being Honest With God
.For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long . . . I acknowledge my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity. Psalm 32: 3, 5 How honest are you with God about your sin? Do you try and hide it? Deny our sin whether it is blaming others, or making excuses for ourselves comes naturally to us. We do not need to be taught this. When our triune God is living in us, we still fight the battle to be deceitful. God cannot bless us if we are unwilling to acknowledge the truth of our sin. Read 2 Samuel 11. …
