    Better Sacrifice

By faith, Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did.  Hebrews 11:4 Do you doubt yourself being able to be used by God?  Do you ask God why He is using someone like yourself and not someone else? I think we have all done that!  I don’t have a redeeming story like so and so.  My story is not as amazing as that person’s.  God really changed that person.  Do you understand my point there?  WE forget that God knows who we are and where we have been.  Yet, He has forgiven us when we choose to follow Him.  We forget that He has…

Blessed is he, who is not offended by me.  Matthew 11:6  Are you a person that gets offended easily? Read Matthew 11:1-19.  From this passage, make a list of every potential challenge and opportunity for John’s confusion due to the imprisonment and Jesus’ ministry.  What do we know about John?  Read Numbers 6:1-4, Luke 1:15.  What do you learn from these passages? He lived his life for one purpose to prepare the way of the Lord. Read John 1:29-34.  What evidence do we have from this passage the  John the Baptist was certain that Jesus was the One for whom he prepared the way?  Now…

    When Nothing Else Helps

She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better, she grew worse.  Mark 5:26 Do you put God in a box?  A box that you try to control? Read Psalm 103:1-5.  What benefits of god are listed in these five verses?  God forgives us of our iniquities, heals all our diseases, redeems our life from destruction, crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies, and satisfies our mouth with good things. God is neither a genie in a bottle or an apathetic bystander.  We need to let God be God.  When we…

    Wonders Never Cease

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.  3 John 1:2 God is truly amazing!  I cannot totally describe how I feel and think about my Lord!  The Bible does an amazing job of describing our Triune God!  God never ceases to show us how wonderful and amazing He is!  I have a missionary friend; as she grew up, she would see things that we don’t see all the time.  The spiritual world was and is very real to her.  God speaks to people even today in…

    All Shapes and Sizes

Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.  Acts 2:22 God presented Himself to His people throughout history in many ways and by many titles.  God is a God full of wonder! Read Isaiah 9:6.  This verse using wonderful to describe Jesus.  The Hebrew word for wonderful is pele.  It means wonder, marvel, hard to understand, extraordinary.  Reread Joshua 3:5.  Can you see the association of these words?  Wonderful cannot be disassociated from wonders, and marvelous cannot be disassociated with…

    Permission To Believe

You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.  Psalm 77:14 Do you believe that God intervenes miraculously in the life of humans? Here are a few fundamental truths.  Even though we are not in an era where miracles and wonders described our era.  God still performs miracles and wonders.  The Bible teaches that signs and wonders will dramatically increase in the latter days. God makes countless merciful exceptions; God reserves the right to respond readily to faith.  A popular theory for the rarety of miracles today is that God no longer performs them. God is not offended when we…

    Creations Unfathomable Complexities

You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Psalm 139: 13-14 Read Psalm 139: 13-18.  Read this passage slowly.  Savor every word like you do your favorite drink and food.  There is much scripture in the Bible showing how God is a creator that has a plan.  He is personally involved in bringing each of us into existence. How many of you love science?  It is not my favorite subject.  However, when you study the body, it is amazing all the little details God put into each of us.  Each…

    Something From Nothing

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the earth.  Genesis 1:1 The foremost fundamental of faith believes that God is who He says he is.  This is the foundation of all other areas of faith. Remember the 5 statements we wrote down last week?  We need all statements to be secure in our faith. Read Psalm 139: 7-10.  Let’s use our imagination with this passage.  Imagine a child of God running from God to the far side of the sea.  Imagine God’s strong arm stretching from the heavens and His right hand gripping the prodigal child with such passion and affection that the veins…

My Maker of Heaven and Earth

By Faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.  Hebrews 11:3 Why should we believe who God says he is? Let’s look at Hebrews 11:3; by what means can we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command? God doesn’t have to prove to us that He is real or that He made the universe.  Hebrews 11:6 is our answer to the question, “why does God not prove Himself or His claims.” What is the answer?  God created us to find pleasure in us, and our faith is…

    Test of Faith
