    Sing To The Lord

Exodus 15: 1-21 Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriuously?  The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.  Exodus 15:21   Do you love to praise our Lord? One Hebrew word for praise is yadah. It means praise, give thanks, or confess.  Another word for praise is zamar, which means sing praise. This portion of Scripture is praising God.  The Israelites had escaped Egypt.  Their time of slavery had ended. When they weren’t sure if they would make it, God made a way for them.  This here is one reason we praise God.  When the the Red Sea swallowed up the soldiers, Moses and the…

    Looking Back

But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.  Genesis 19:26 For context, please read verses 15 – 26 of Genesis 19. Have you ever looked back when told not too? As followers of Christ, we are to turn away from sin, evil, wicked ways.  The city of Sodom was a wicked, wicked city.  They were warned to turn from their wicked ways.  However,  they chose not too. The sin of Lot’s wife was she looked back.  First of all, this family was commanded not to stop in the valley or to look back.  This is what Mrs. Lot did.  She disobeyed and looked back.…

    Our Father

. Pray then like this; Our Father in Heaven hallowed be your name.  Matthew 6:9   Do you struggle with praying to God?  Is it easy for you to pray?  Do you pray to yourself or can you pray out loud in a group? Why is praying to God so hard for people?  One would think that it would be easy to talk to God that already knows everything.  Jesus even models the pray for us in Matthew 6:9-15. Then again, having a relationship with our heavenly Father is hard with all the hard things being thrown at us. Prayer is a form of worship to our heavenly Father.  It…

    Jesus’ Father

But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.” This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.  John 5:17- 18 Have you ever made such a bold statement in a culture that wont agree with you, and yet you speak bible truth? The Word

In the beginning, was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made.  IN him was life, and the life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness has not overcome it.  John 1: 1-5 Who is the word? What is the good news of the word? John starts out his gospel with calling Jesus ‘the Word’.  John is stating Jesus as the personal word of God through whom God spoke all things into existence.   In Hebrews 1:1-3  God has spoken and…

    Knowing God the Father

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God;  and so we are.  The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.  1 John 3:1 Are you a child of God? Do you see yourself believing that God is your father? The truth of the matter is God is our father. We are his children.  This is one of the greatest revelations in the New Testament. As a child of God, we are chosen adopted through Jesus as his very own child. This happens when we asked Jesus to be our Lord and…

    Band Of Love

    4.  I led them with cords of Kindness, with the band of love, and I became to them as one who eases the yoke on their jaws, and I bent down to them and fed them. 8. How can I  give you up, O Ephraim? How can I hand you over, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah?  How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart recoils within me; my compassion grows warm and tender.  Hosea 11:4, 8 Do you have a loving parent? Have you rejected your loving parent? In verse 2, this is a picture of a loving parent.  A father supporting his child who…

    Jesus

. Since, therefore, the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the smae things that through death, he might destroy theonewho has the power of death, that is , the devil,  Hebrews 2:14   Why did Jesus have to become flesh and blood in order to save us? We, believers, children of God, are flesh and blood.  We are human.  Jesus had to become a human in order to save us.  Only a true human could qualify to rescue us from Satan and his evil and retain our relationship with God. Jesus is fully man and fully God.  Jesus was theonly one capable of filling the…

God The Father – Part One

Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.  Psalm 68:5 What kind of earthly father do you have? Is he a good one? Did he meet your needs? or did he abandon you? Our Triune God is a great father to all of us.  However, God delightsin the weak, disadvantaged, oppressed, hurting, and the lonely, particularly those who trust him.  The Old Testament and the New Testament both speak about God’s  fatherhood. This verse is saying that He will be the father to those who don’t have a father.  God is a good, good father. He is always taking care of his children’s needs.…
