But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us. 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8 In one of my bible study groups I am apart of, we have been talking about being spiritual moms to other women. Women that don’t have a physical mom or women that are young in their spiritual walk. Any women that needs a mom and a spiritual mom for that matter. We all need sound, mature godly people in our lives. Missionaries,…

God Chose You
For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, 1 Thessalonians 1:4 Hey, Dear friend!!! God chose you!!! Yes! You!! Just as He saw Hagar, Mary, Ruth, Deborah, David, Samuel, and Paul, He sees you. He sees the very core of you and He still chose you. God already took the first step in our relationship with him. God did this when He sent His son who died to pay the price for our sins. Jesus made a bridge between man and God, so we could have a personal, deep, connection to Him. God’s chosen people are those who choose to accept his invitation of forgiveness…

Apple Of His Eye
Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings, Psalm 17:8 When I hear the phrase apple of your eye, it makes me think of one who is special to a person. Well, according to this verse, we are! We are special, we are loved, we are cared for by God. The Psalmist is using word pictures to teach about God’s love and care for His faithful people. The apple of the eye is referring to the pupil of the eye. This is a metaphor for something that is cherished and valued. Doesn’t this make you excited that you are the apple…

Confronting With Love
If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over, But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Matthew 18: 15-17 How to handle conflict among each other! This is a hard one. For one, confronting is hard for…

Mother’s Day
Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:18 Happy Mother’s Day!! I couldn’t wait to be a mother when I was a little girl. It’s all I wanted to be. Years later, I am married with two step children and 5 adopted children. God has blessed me abundantly. Not that there were no tears to be shed because there were many. Mother’s Day can be a day that is hard for many women. The women that can’t have a child of their own and adoption is not possible. There is an emptiness. Women that don’t have a mother to celebrate with. There is…

Why The Law
Why then the law? It was added because o transgressions, until the offspring come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary. Galatians 3:19 The Hebrew word for law is Torah meaning to teach or direction. The law is referring to the Ten Commandments, the Pentateuch, which is the first five books of the Old Testament, and any commandment of the Old Testament. This verse is also referring to the sacrificial system that was part of God’s Old Testament covenant with Israel given to Moses. Paul states several things concerning the law. It was given because of transgressions. The law defines the offenses…

Different Kinds of People
The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understand the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him.” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 There are three groups of people – believers, those who believe and follow Jesus Christ and non believers – those who do not believe or follow Christ, but follow their own ways, and the group that say the believe and follow…

Sharing Our Gifts with Others
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies – in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To Him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10 God has gifted us with specific interests, talents, and abilities that he wants us to use to serve Him and others. We are all individuals that God created. He created each of us uniquely. There are things that no one else in the world can do quite…

God Gives More Grace To The Humble
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double minded. James 4:6-8. God opposes the proud; however, he gives more grace to the humble. Being humble can be a hard struggle. I don’t know about you, but I do not want God to oppose me. I, personally, want more of His grace. Grace is God’s unearned and undeserved favor, mercy, kindness, consideration, help and spiritual empowerment. This…
