    One Lord

Ephesians 4:4-7 There is one body and one Spirit just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call – one lord, one faith, one baptism, one God, and father of all who is Over all and through all and in all.  But Grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ gift. The Christian faith and unity is the confession of One Lord .  Jesus Christ’s work of redemption is that there is only One Lord.  This is perfect and sufficient!  There is no other savior or mediator that can bring us to God.  Jesus is the only one that…

Through Grace of the Lord Jesus

“But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are.” Acts 15:11 Do you believe that Jesus died to save us form our sin against God? Do you believe that salvation is for all or just for the Jews? Believe means to accept something as true, to feel sure of the truth of; to have faith. In the biblical sense, believing is to think it to be true, to be persuaded of , to credit, to place confidence in as used in the New Testament of the conviction and trust to which a man is impelled by a…

    Under Grace

For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?  Romans 6:14 -16 God’s promises are more powerful and effectual for mortifying sin, than our promises to God.   Sin may be a challenge in a believer, and create a great deal of hardship, but it will not have dominion…

    Grace Abounded

The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:20-21 God reveals himself in the Old Testament as a God of grace and mercy who shows love to His people, not because they deserve it, but because of His own desire to have a personal relationship with His people.  He is faithful to the promises He made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Justice is described as getting the punishment we deserve.  Mercy is described as  God sparing us…

    Grace and Truth

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’ For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.  John 1:14 – 18 Grace!   A wonderful thing for God to give to us.  He keeps giving grace to us over and over. It…

    Jesus Appeared To Others

Mark 16: 12-13; Luke 24:13-32, Luke 24:34; 1 Cor. 15:5 Jesus appearing to the disciples and followers must have been important for him to do before he ascended into Heaven.  First it was the women, then in Mark 16:12-13, he appeared to two disciples, they shared this with the others and yet, they didn’t believe them.  In Luke 24:13-32, it goes a little deeper.  Here these two men are traveling and talking about the past events that had just happened.  They were sad that Jesus was gone (to their knowledge).  While they were walking, Jesus interpreted the scripture to these two.  In the village, he finally revealed to them who…

Resurrection Sunday: Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene and The Other Women

Mark 16: 9-11; John 20:11-18; Matthew 28:9-10   Now when he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared to the first Mary Magdalene from when he had cast out 7 demons.   She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourn and wept. But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her,  they would not believe it. Mary Magdalene was a woman who had seven demons and Jesus heal her of this.  Joanna and Susanna and many others of these women faithfully contributed  to his ministry.  Their support likely came from finances and meeting their practical needs.…

Passion Week: Devotion – Jesus’ Crucifixion and Death

Friday Matthew 27:57-66; Mark 15:42-47; Luke 23:50-56; John 19:31-42 and Isaiah 52 Please read the passages above. Isaiah 52:14 – As many were astonished at you –  his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, ands form beyond that of the children of mankind The prophet Isaiah spoke this to the people.  We know that he was beaten, but do we comprehend how badly he was beaten and tortured?  I have a hard time imagining him so beaten. Marred means disfigure applies to external injury of a more permanent and serious kind: A birthmark disfigured one side of his face.  Deform suggests that something has been distorted or internally injured so severely change its normal…

Passion Week: Devotions Jesus’ Arrest and trial

Friday Matthew 26: 47-27:26; Mark 14:43-15:15; Luke 22:47-23:25; John 18:2-19:16 Jesus is betrayed by Judas Iscariot.  Talk about high adrenaline rush.  Do you ever wonder it this was all fast motion or slow motion like the movies.  Have you ever went through a crisis and every thing seems to move in a fast motion yet in a slow surreal motion?  I mean a friend betrays you with a kiss, another friend cuts off a soldiers ear, and at that moment Jesus performs a miracle and heals the ear.  Then all your friends (disciples) run away and fled.  Wow!  How alone could one feel.  But Jesus probably already knew all this…
