    What Is Truth: Part 3

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and Christ Jesus our hope, To Timothy my true son in the faith:  Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.  1 Timothy 1:1-2 Do you remember Paul’s purpose of 1 Timothy?  Reread 1 Timothy 1:3 and also look at 3:14, 15 if you can write the purpose in the margin of your bible or a notebook. Let’s also put the date in.  A.D. 65. Read chapters 4-6 of this book to familiarize yourself with the rest of the book. Now let’s go back and focus…

    What Is Truth: Part 2

Did you find the purpose of Paul’s letter?  If you didn’t, it’s ok.  We will continue to look for the answers in a few days. Paul was Timothy’s mentor.  They first met in Lystra, in modern Turkey, where Paul healed a disabled person (a cripple).  Paul was stoned because he wouldn’t let them worship him as a Greek god, Hermes.  Read Acts 14:8-20.  Maybe this is where Paul and Timothy first met.  It doesn’t really tell us, though. Paul asked Timothy to go with him on his second missionary trip.  Read Acts 16: 1-3.  Timothy’s father was Greek, and his mother was Jewish.  2 Timothy…

    Prayer Time

Our Father in heaven, Your name is honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.] Let’s take some time and focus on prayer.  Look up these verses and glean from them. Prayer!  It’s a conversation with God.  Do you struggle with praying?  Is it intimidating to you to pray to God?  Is there a right way to…

I Can Do All Things Through Christ

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.  Galatians 5:6 As joint-heirs of Jesus Christ, we are capable of doing things that we simply couldn’t do.  Read John 15:5 and Philippians 4:13.  What do these verses teach us?  Without Jesus, we cannot do anything.  It is that simple.  With Him, we can do everything.  What have you done in life that required you to draw your strength from Jesus, so you could do the impossible? Read 2 Corinthians 4:7.  What is God’s goal according to this verse? God is greatly glorified when we are enabled to do what we are unable…

    Reflection Day

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 Today is Reflection Day!  I love reflection day.  It’s a time for me to go back and reflect on what God has spoken to me about.  It gives me time to pray and seek God about what he wants to change in my life.  It gives me time to make a game plan of putting action to what God is telling me and asking of me.  Reflection Day gives me a slower pace to grasp what God is telling me.  It gives me more time to…

God Can Do And Who He Says I Am

Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord.  Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.  Habakkuk 3:2           How would you define faith?  What does Hebrews 11:1 define faith? There are two words from Hebrews 11:1, they are hoped for and unseen.  They don’t make an exact science of faith.  The less evidence of the nature of walking by faith rather than by sight has its obvious risks.  Perfectionism can be hard when we have faith.  We often have to admit that we were wrong. Failure may be painful, but…

God Is Who He Says He Is – Part 2

Did you ponder on yesterday’s post?  Did find the answer to how long Moses and Joshua waited before God spoke to them?  They waited forty days and nights, then in Exodus 25:1, God spoke! In the old testament, the people could inquire of the Lord in the tent of meeting, however, they had to do it in a certain way.  Reread Exodus 33: 7-11.  What do you see them doing? They watched Moses from a distance.  In 2 Corthinians 3:10, we are the people of the New Covenant, we have the surpassing glory that God has offered to us.  Yet, we do what the Old Testament people did, we stand…

God Is Who He Says He Is

Moses set out with Joshua his aide, and Moses went up on the mountain of God.  Exodus 24: 13 Do you believe God is who He says He is?  Do you have any doubts? Dear friends, some of us are just starting this journey with God, while some of us have been on this journey for a while.  No matter our length of time of being a follower of Christ, we have the rest of our lives to be increasingly intentional about our unbelief and confessing them to Christ.  Grant it we don’t know the number of days we will live here on earth.  However, we can lean into Christ…
