    Reflection Day

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 Today is Reflection Day!  I love reflection day.  It’s a time for me to go back and reflect on what God has spoken to me.  It gives me time to pray and seek God about what he wants to change in my life.  It gives me time to make a game plan of putting action to what God is telling me and asking of me.  Reflection Day gives me a slower pace to grasp what God is telling me. …

    Abraham’ s Faith

By faith, Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.  Hebrews 11:8 Abraham, the father of many nations.  How much about Abraham do you know?  God highly esteemed Abraham and spoke of him often. Abraham had times of serious doubt and made some foolish mistakes, yet he had a history of faith.  Remember, the bible figures are human, just like you and me.  So with that being said, when we are in doubt or making mistakes, we can still allow God to testify to our…

    Mary And Martha: Part 2

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.”  Hebrews 13:8 Oh, Mary and Martha! Two Sisters and a brother!  A brother who became ill while Jesus was ministering across the Jordan.  How did these two sisters handle this?  Read John 11: 1-6.  Why did they do this?  What did they expect, in your opinion? Mary and Martha had seen Jesus’s works of healing; they believed Jesus could do it again.  Martha and Mary knew that Jesus loved them, and they knew Jesus had their most immeasurable interest at heart.  They expected Jesus to come immediately.  However, what did Jesus do?  Jesus said that the sickness was not…

Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The Virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him Immanuel,”  Isaiah 7:14 God provided a preview of our Messiah through the prophet Isaiah around 700  years before Jesus was born.  In Isaiah 7:10-14, it says, “Then the Lord spoke again to Ahaz:  ask for a sign from the Lord your God – from the depths of Sheol to the heights of heaven.” But Ahaz replied, “I will not ask; I will not test the lamb.”  Isaiah said, Listen, house of David! Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men? Will you also try the patience of…

    Spending Time With God

And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. Mark 1:35   Read the following passages and then answer the following questions.  2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,  that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”  Psalm 119: 103-105, “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore, I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a…

    Seeking Him

. Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.  Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with all my heart.  Psalm 119: 18, 34 Find a time today, with no interruptions, and sit at the feet of Jesus.  Find what works for you and God to build your relationship with each other.  Everyone’s way is different.  However, the first thing is first – prepare your heart.  Psalm 100:4 says, to enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!  God is worthy of our worship.  Praise Him for who he is, give Him thanks.  Ask God to show you…

    First Things First

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.  Psalm 27:4 In our world today, we are so busy, stressed, over-committed, and overwhelmed.  We look for apps that have the bible on it, or devotions.  However, do we actually take the time to sit down at the feet of Jesus and listen to His word, to pray, to worship him? Psalm 27:4 is a testimony of King David’s steadfast determination.  It is his determination that no…

    Come To Know God

I AM WHO I AM.  Exodus 3:14 God reveals himself through what He does.  When God works through us, we get to know Him through that experience.  We also come to know God when he meets our needs.   How has God revealed who he is to you?  What are some names you have learned about who God is?  Here are some scriptures that describe who God is:  Ps. 68: 5 reveals God is defender of widows, Revelations 19:11 reveals God is faithful and true.  Deut.  4:24 shows God is a consuming fire. Job 16:20 says God is our friend.  In 2 Corinthians 1:3, God is of all comfort.  Psalm…
