Thanking God for His provisions is so loving towards him. It is acknowledging who he is as our Lord who takes care of us. Have you ever thought about why the people didn’t pack a meal? When I know I might not be home for a meal; I make plans. Do you?
For whatever reason, the people didn’t have food. Maybe they thought they would be home by the time they needed to eat. I know when my kids were little, I had to carry snacks along. Didn’t the kids get hungry? Did mom’s back then have to carry food with them? Maybe they didn’t make a snack back then? Whatever the reason, Jesus did a miracle. However, before the miracle happened, He thanked his Father in Heaven to supply the food to feed the crowd.
When my kids were little, they fought over who got to pray over our meals. It really was ridiculous. It was so bad; all the kids got a certain day, that was their day to pray. It stopped the fighting. What a great thing for my kids to fight over. They fought over who got to thank God for our meal.
It is good to thank God for His provisions. I really believe that we have food on our table and plenty of it because of my kids thanking God for what he has supplied. I don’t know how we have what we have with my family’s size and the amount of income we have. All I know is God provides. He is so worthy of our thanks. It really is all because of him.
Read Daniel 6:8, Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
Do you take time to thank God for His provisions to you?
Are you teaching your little ones to thank God for all that he supplies for them and others?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your provisions of food. I pray that we don’t take what you supply for granted. I pray that we will appreciate what you offer and not grumble about what we don’t like. You are a loving, caring father who takes great care of HIs children.
In Jesus Name
Amen
