Do you thank God for every meal? What about snacking? Do you thank God for that?
And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples and the disciples to the multitude. Mark 14:19
Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. John 11:41
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving: 1 Timothy 4:4
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Colossians 3:17
My husband is really good at taking the time to thank God for the food he gives us. He taught our children also. They each get a day to thank God for the food he puts on our table. Can I tell you how thankful I am for a godly husband and a man of prayer? He is teaching our kids this wonderful trait. To be thankful and to thank God for what he provides for his people.
This is exactly what Jesus Christ did before feeding the five thousand. He thanked his heavenly father for the food. This is what we should do before every meal, maybe even for our snacks and junk food we love to eat. Isn’t Jesus a great role model for us? He recognized God’s care and provision for us. We should do the same. This also becomes an act of worship that honors God.
Do you want to make a change at your mealtimes?
Do you want to be in the act of worship?
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being a loving father to us. Thank you for providing the nourishment that we need. I pray that we will make this an act of worship to you.
In Jesus Name
Amen
